Peppermint Channels Her 'Head Over Heels' Character in Dark Music Video for 'A Vision of Nowness': Watch

January 7, 2019

RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Peppermint has released a new dark and sexy music video for her version of The Go-Go’s track “A Vision of Nowness.” The song is a number she performs as the oracle Pythio in the Go-Go's musical Head Over Heels on Broadway, which closed Sunday.

The video opens up with Peppermint strutting into a dance room to begin rehearsing with her choreographers. A few seconds later, the video’s aesthetic completely changes into a dark background with purple smoke floating in the air, all while Peppermint is completely decked in feather attire reminiscent of a raven.

As the video continues, Peppermint steps into different outfits that make her look like she’s a fierce villainess, straight out of a fairytale. The video was directed by Tyler Stone, with cinematography by Ari Rothschild, who worked alongside Peppermint to create the ominous visual. When coming up with the concept, Peppermint wanted it to be a celebration of “love, pride, inclusivity, and body positivity," with a bit of an edge to it.

“The video was such a fun treat to make, and I think Tyler really captured the dark, sexy, and sinfully sweet energy I wanted to accompany the lyrics,” Peppermint wrote in an Instagram post.

Last year Peppermint made headlines as the first openly trans woman to star on Broadway.
