Garbage Front woman, Shirley Manson Gets Real About How Society Treats Women

Check out Shirley Manson on The Morning Beat Here

August 13, 2019

Shirley Manson, the lead singer/ songwriter behind Garbage, joined Jai and Mikalah on the Morning Beat! Watch as Manson discusses her podcast, The Jump. On The Jump, "Manson sits down with seven of the most influential musicians of the last two decades (Neko Case, Esperanza Spalding, Big Boi, Dave 1, Courtney love, Karen O and Perfume Genius) to discuss the song that represents their artistic moment of truth and the impact that song had on both their careers, and their lives."

Along with discussing her podcast, Manson delves deep into her sentiments about how women are treated in society. She touches on the pressures that women of all ages face, whether it's feeling too old or being judged by the number of wrinkles on your skin. Manson states, "Society wants young women to not feel their own power." Manson states that worrying about appearances all the time allows young women to buy into toxic societal standards.

We loved having Shirley Manson on The Morning Beat and could listen to her preach about girl power all day!
