Bebe Rexha has been having an interesting year when it comes to her LGBTQ fans. Along with lending her vocals to Rita Ora’s controversial track “Girls,” Rexha made waves back in July when she tweeted that the top four queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race were “cold” to her when they introduced her at VH1’s 2018 Trailblazer Honors. Her tweets led season 10 winner Aquaria to send multiple tweets back, claiming that she wasn’t being honest.

The “Meant to Be” singer addressed the controversial moment in the new episode of the Spotify LGBTQ podcast David’s Out for a Good Time. Rexha told host David Olshanetsky that the feud is over and that the two have actually become friends. “I thought you were going to ask me about Aquaria,” she said during the interview. “We’re besties now.”

Rexha also took some time to clarify what actually happened, saying that Aquaria hadn’t recognized her at the event since she was not in hair or makeup. “I was just trying to say I had no fucking makeup on and I looked like shit, so she didn’t notice me,” she said. “I think that they were also just tired and overworked, ‘cause it was the finale week.”

But she went on to add that she later met Aquaria at a Jeremy Scott fashion show, where she officially apologized to the queen for the drama and learned how young she really was. “I had no idea that she was 22, I was like ‘Oh my God, I feel so bad,’” she said. “I can understand why she was tired -- that’s a lot for a 22-year-old to handle, to win Drag Race and to travel, and we still live in a fucked-up world where it’s still hard to be who you truly want to be. So I got that, and I felt really bad.”

Along with talking about Aquaria, Rexha and Olshanetsky took a moment to praise former Fifth Harmony member Normani, with Rexha adding that she wants to write music for the singer. “I just think she’s awesome,” she said. “I would love to write for her. I need to write something more R&B, because I think that’s the vibe they’re going for.”
