Ariana Grande Enlists Troye Sivan For 'Mean Girls'-Themed 'Thank U, Next' Trailer: Watch

November 26, 2018

Ariana Grande's took a page out of the iconic Mean Girls burn book for her latest tease of the hotly anticipated "Thank U, Next" music video. The new trailer is a direct reference to Tina Fey's iconic teen comedy, with actors from the original film making cameos.

Among the actors (including Jonathan Bennett and Bethany Byrd) is none other than her “Dance to This” collaborator Troye Sivan, who had this to say: “I heard she’s a lesbian who’s now dating a chick called Aubrey. It’s fucking sick.”

Sivan's line references a snafu that occurred on the release day of "Thank U, Next." In a lyric where Grande sings about falling in love with herself, some fans misheard "Ari" for "Aubrey" and speculated she had a girlfriend.

The trailer also features YouTube stars Colleen Ballinger and Gabi DeMartino.

Grande will be presented with Billboard's 2018 Woman of the Year award Dec. 6 at the 13th annual Women in Music dinner and awards gala in New York. She joins a history of icons who have been previously honored as Woman of the Year, including Selena Gomez, Madonna, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift.
